Welcome Friends and Family!
This is a tremendously exciting time in my life; planets truly have aligned.
As most of you know, I have been using a manual wheelchair exclusively for eleven years due to a misdiagnosed illness. The exciting news is that the doctor who’s been treating me for advanced Lyme disease for almost two years feels I’m at the stage in my recovery where signals to move my legs are starting to make it through. He feels I’m definitely going to walk again; I just need to build the atrophied muscles. I don’t just feel I’m going to walk again; I know I am. Ever since I first began using a chair it’s never been ‘if’; it’s always been ‘when. I realize it’s not going to happen overnight, but the ‘when’, is now… This site has been created because I’m hoping to raise $90,000 for up to three years at a unique physical therapy program Jay (my fiancé) found, a program called Project Walk. To help with the cost of recovery based therapies such as this and other uninsured medical expenses, a fund-raising campaign has been established in my honor through the Catastrophic Injury Program of the National Transplant Assistance Fund. NTAF is a non-profit that has been assisting the transplant and spinal cord injury community for over 20 years. All contributions are administered by NTAF exclusively for uninsured medically-related expenses. NTAF provides fiscal accountability, and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. |

So now, a note from NTAF;-)… Won’t you please consider helping Peggy realize her dream of an active life by contributing to her NTAF fundraising campaign? Your tax-deductible donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you thank you thank you for your generous donations. As most of you know I’m not working presently, so I truly couldn’t do it without you. Most of the people who go to Project Walk have either brain or spinal cord injuries, although they have had many cases similar to mine. The last time we were there Jay told me he heard the therapist who had just been working with me say to another therapist, “She’s definitely going to walk again”. And you know I am…check back to see postings in my Progress Blog for updates on how I’m doing! |
